Happenings

  • Two weeks back at work after the half-term break. Just have to remind myself this is always the worst term.
  • Family is mostly back to health now, and my littlest is finally starting to sleep better, which is a big deal.
  • I started teaching the free 3d graphics package Blender at school this week, and it has been really fun. It’s probably the most complex software a lot of these students have ever used, but most are getting really into it and being creative, usually deviating from the task I have assigned them. But I don’t mind that one bit, so long as they’re having fun making something using the skills I’m trying to show them.

  • More Workslop For Mother… yeah, it’s more AI stuff. Work has been encouraging the use of AI quite heavily recently;this blog, from the perspective of my sector, was a bit of a salve.
  • We Used To Read Things In This Country. Fascinating class analysis of literacy.
  • I am in love with zenbones, a collection of Neovim colour schemes that are essentially more minimal versions of popular colour schemes. I’ve really gone off ultra-colourful schemes lately. Currently I’m enjoying “rosebones”, based on Rosé Pine (though this was already pretty minimal compared with some of the gaudier options).
