Weekly digest 36
Sunday, August 24, 2025It's been a pretty full week.
Happenings
- Granddad's funeral was this week. It went well.
- Started learning to use the free 3d graphics package Blender, as I may be teaching it this year. I have never done 3d anything in my life, so this was a lot of fun.
- Got excited by the announced release of Silksong, after 6 years in development with barely a peep from the devs. Hollow Knight is one of my all-time favourite games.
- Over from Canada for the funeral, I got to spend some time with my uncle and aunt, as well as some other family I don't see very often.
- Mr Three had his MMR booster jab, and was an absolute star. Didn't even cry (which is not like him, he's quite fragile, but we're working on it).
- Took the kids to a hot-air ballooning event today. Unfortunately, we didn't even see any hot-air balloons! They were launching later in the day, at around the kids' bedtimes. However, it was a great local fun day, there was a carnival, loads of free stuff for Mr Three to do. We had a great day out for the cost of a picnic and £2 to park.
Links
Not so many this time, I've not spent as much time reading (and fewer posts have grabbed my attention...)
- A cool webring. I really like several of these sites and there are many more I've not visited yet.
- Adventures In State Space. Awesome visualisation!
- Routine beats word counts. Been thinking about how to keep up some posting momentum after Blaugust has ended and the chaos of the school year has set in.
- I love-hate Soulslike games. Don't we all? Though interestingly criminallyvulgar (love the reference) love/hates the opposite parts of the Soulslike formula to me.
- Forums are still great. And I agree! 32-bit cafe has a Discord and Discourse and I prefer the Disourse.
