A bit late because silly old me forget to remove draft = true!

  • Finally broke up this weekend after a long term. The last day was nice. It was a non-school uniform day (so the kids looked like human individuals), I played some fun games with my Years 7 and 8 classes, and there was a nice awards assembly to finish the day.
  • Our littlest started crawling this week! Let the chaos begin.
  • Yesterday started another attempt at toilet training our eldest. Our best opportunities are during school holidays. We've tried a couple of times now but he's still not getting it. Like, at all. It's pretty stressful to be honest — he's the only one at his nursery still in nappies.
  • Saturday took my mum out for dinner as a Mother's day treat. Nice to just talk to her for a couple of hours.
  • Managed to get some more DIY done on the house this morning. Going to try and get upstairs fully finished this Easter break.

Only a few this week

  • The Cruel Fantasies Of Well-fed People. An old post from Monbiot I read recently against the fantasy of "localism" as a solution to our ecological woes. This article is about food, but it goes for pretty much everything needed to sustain life to any decent standard, including energy, basic materials, and so on. Going back to small-scale local production is not a viable way to sustain
  • Data centres contain 90% crap data
  • Lucy Letby should be released immediately. Wife is a former NICU nurse, this is something we have discussed a lot. We/she always felt the case against Letby hasn't stacked up. This highly detailed post lays out the entire case against her conviction.

Playing

I finished Outer Wilds and holy shit is it one of the best games ever made. I kind of want to make a whole post to just gush about this singular experience. Now I've just started the little-known 1995 SNES game Terranigma, on the recommendation of a podcast I follow (they do have an audio RSS feed as well).

Listening

Listened to Rufus and Chaka Khan's Ask Rufus album while I was working on the house.
